Woodford survived!

It has been a long time since I camped out let alone in a 2 person tent but that was what we did on Tuesday night. My daughter and I spent the last couple of days enjoying the Woodford Festival experience. While we both enjoyed the atmosphere and the variety of experiences on offer both of us decided that the heat was a bit of a downer as listening to performers was something to endure in the hot marquees rather than enjoy! But nonetheless I’m glad I experienced all that is Woodford. The highlight was Tuesday evening listening to Augie March play live. A band I was not overly familiar with but will now hunt out a CD. They are young Aussies and produce wonderful music. We returned home yesterday and weren’t surprised to find the car telling us that the outside temperature was 37 degrees as we set sail for home. No wonder we were hot!

The Festival is a credit to the organisers as it is well run and the venue beautiful. It was so good to see all the trees thriving as when they grow bigger the shade produced will enhance the site tremendously as well as contribute to natural habitat etc.

Anyhow it is New years Day and I hope that you all had a relaxing New years eve and enjoy 2009! here are some pics which give you an idea of our Woodford experience although the shots don’t quite transmit the heat I’m afraid.

Fiji Holiday
Last year I travelled to Fiji for a hoiday with my daughter. I enjoyed the visit immensely especially the snorkelling and the opportunity to experience another culture. Bula became my most oft used word as it the form of greeting used everywhere and always with a smile. It seems to me that a simpler lifestyle where people work together to provide adequate food and shelter for each other can mean people are happier than here in our ‘rush everywhere’ society!
We stayed at the Hideaway Resort which is near the Kula Eco Park. This park is the only wildlife park in Fiji and recently I received photo’s of the class of children that visited the park as a result of a small donation I made when I visited. It’s nice to see such a wonderful result and I hope that these children grow to love nature and care for it. You can find them here www.fijiwild.com
